Antique perfume buttons date back to the 1700's, when fragrances were too heavy to wear on the skin and clothing. Women would dab their fragrance onto the fabric of the buttons and enjoy perfumes without staining or irritation.The history of these beauties is something I have always found intriguing, from the romanticism of women handing them off to their loved ones before battle to remind them of home, and how the majority of these types of buttons were coveted once they fell out of popularity.

This beauty here measures a whopping 1.25” and is a lovely burgundy velvet. The flowers have been enameled in golds and a hint of green.
