Antique perfume buttons date back to the 1700's, when fragrances were too heavy to wear on the skin and clothing. Women would dab their fragrance onto the fabric of the buttons and enjoy perfumes without staining or irritation.

The history of these beauties is something I have always found intriguing, from the romanticism of women handing them off to their loved ones before battle to remind them of home, and how the majority of these types of buttons were coveted once they fell out of popularity.

Here we have an antique Perfume Button with a floral motif set against burgundy velvet. A truly stunning button accented with vintage baroque pearls in fuschia, and vintage German glass beads in the prettiest shade of pink with gold swirls.

Button measures 1 1/4” and necklace measures 18”. Closes with a lobster clasp.
